In the textile industry, there are usually large waste streams with a relatively low grade of pollution. These streams are straightforward and can be directly discharged into the sewage system. But from the textile printing, however, streams are polluted with chemicals and dyes. This wastewater must be treated and processed professionally in accordance with local legal requirements.

Laundries often distinguish between white and blue fabric. While the wastewater from the white clothing can be introduced directly into the municipal sewage system in most cases, the wastewater from blue clothing is often polluted with oil and metal. Therefore, it must be treated accordingly, usually by ultrafiltration.

Contaminated wastewater from printing on cardboard and packaging paper incurs also in the printing industry. It is important to separate the contaminated wastewaters from printing colours and other chemicals by the use of systems for the treatment of such wastewaters.
